I’m a mum of two (12 and 7), and we’ve been home educating since early 2025.
Like many home ed mums, I didn’t start this journey feeling confident. I started it with a lot of questions.
Am I doing enough?
Is this the right decision?
How do I organise everything?
At first, my weeks felt mentally heavy. I overthought the structure.
I worried about the Local Authority. I downloaded too many apps.
I tried to plan everything perfectly.
What I slowly realised was this:
The stress wasn’t really about learning.
It was the mental load of running a week.
Meals to decide.
Learning to organise.
A home to run.
A hundred little decisions sitting in my head.
So I started building simple systems to make life easier.
Planning the week instead of the day.
Keeping meals simple and repeatable.
Creating structure where it helps - and flexibility where it matters.
Everything changed.
Our days are calmer.
Our learning is more focused.
And I feel far more organised and in control of our week.
This space is where I share the systems, tools and ideas that help reduce the mental load of motherhood - especially for mums who are home educating or managing a busy home.
